Treasure hunt in Vilnius

Hello dear explorer!😘 Welcome to Vilnius!😉

"Prašau!" (Please!) and "Ačiū!" (Thank you!) were my first Lithuanian words when I landed in the capital of Lithuania.👌😊Vilnius Airport serves most Lithuanian international flights to many major European destinations. Currently, the airport has about 50 destinations in about 25 different countries.✈ The airport is situated only 5 km (3.1 mi) away from the centre of the city. You can easily take the bus for 2 euros.

Did you know that the name of the city originates from the Vilnia River? Vilnius is situated in south-eastern Lithuania at the confluence of the Vilnia and Neris Rivers. Many of its older buildings have been renovated, and a business and commercial area is being developed into the New City Center, expected to become the city's main administrative and business district on the north side of the Neris river.

Where to stay in Vilnius🏨🏡

Vilnius is a small and quiet town. Wherever you book, you will have around 1401 accommodations to choose according to your needs (click the link https://www.booking.com/city/lt/vilnius.en.html?aid=1971070&no_rooms=1&group_adults=2&label=ATB).

My adventure in Vilnius was a treasure hunt.😉 A treasure hunt is one of many different types of games for players who try to find hidden objects or places by following a series of clues. I discovered the city with my friends and found out some nice places to see in 4 hours. Here is a list for you dear traveler😘:

1. St. Anne’s and Bernardine Church Complex - Is a stunning red brick structure built in the Gothic architectural style in the 1500s by the Franciscan brothers. It is also built in the Gothic style and has adornments in the Renaissance and Baroque style.

2. Vilnius Cathedral - Is the most famous church in Vilnius and often acts as a symbol of the city, located in Cathedral Square.

3. Vilnius Cathedral Bell Tower - Is located also in Cathedral Square. Standing tall at 52 meters, the Cathedral Bell Tower provides excellent views of Vilnius’ old and new town.

4. Vilnius Town Hall - Is located in the Town Hall Square which often hosts festivals and events (concerts, literary evenings, presentations of books, exhibitions).

5. The Presidential Palace - Constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries, the building hosts private political meetings and foreign delegates. You can visit it after passport and security check. Every day at 6 P.M. you can see the changing of the guards at the Presidential Palace.

6. Eat delicious pancakes at "La Crepe" - It's a great restaurant where you can eat excellent pancakes mixed with other dishes. I tried American pancakes with stewed chicken, champignons, carrot and cheese sauce, coriander, dill. It was delicious. Click the link for menu  https://www.lacrepe.lt/en/menu/#.😍👌

7. Užupis Constitution - In the heart of Vilnius’ Old Town, silver plaques detailing Užupis’ Constitution can be seen on the road Paupio g. in numerous languages.

8. Artworks on Literatu street - It was interesting to see the various plaques for different Lithuanian authors. This street is a tribute to the authors who have mentioned Vilnius in their work.

9. The Gate of Dawn - Is a city gate in Vilnius and one of the most important religious, historical and cultural monuments. It was built between 1503 and 1522 as a part of defensive fortifications for the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

10. Church of the Holy Mother of God (Skaisciausios Dievo Motinos Cerkve) - I was walking around the Old Town of Vilnius, and came across this imposing Orthodox Church. This is close to the artist's area of Užupis, and St. Anne’s and Bernardine Church.

11. Church of St. Casimir - Is a Roman Catholic church in Vilnius' Old Town, close to the Vilnius' Town Hall. It is the first and the oldest baroque church in Vilnius, built in 1618.

If you have time, visit also Trakai Castle. I didn't have the opportunity to visit it unfortunately. But I bought some cool magnets.😉 I hope you enjoyed the article and took some great info for your trip! Thank you for your time and have a wonderful and inspiring day!

Andra😘💋
