Hello dear Traveler!😘
This article is a little bit different than others. It’s an introspection about what Coronavirus (COVID-19) has taught me. It is dedicated to our travel community, but it is written also in the memory of dead travelers.😥
Billions of questions we have during this period such as: What is Coronavirus? How this pandemic will change my future? Will we die? How worried should we be? How is life under Coronavirus lockdown? Do masks really help? What should I do with my travel bookings? and so on. I did a research about this subject and I will answer.🤔
What is Coronavirus?🧬🧬🧬
According to World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. It starts like a flu, but actually is a respiratory disease. The common symptoms are fever🤒, tiredness😴, dry cough🤧, shortness of breath (difficulty breathing)😵. Hygiene is now very important to the whole world (we are all like Monica in the Friends series – obsessed with cleaning🧹🧼🧽🚿). To find out more about the disease click the link of WHO (https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus#tab=tab_1).
How this pandemic will change my future?🚨
The first thing that came to my mind was “How do I protect myself and others?”. The spread of this virus is really alarming. Even the fact that the first case was in China (December, 2019), the number of deaths is almost double in Italy😥. There are a lot of fake news but is better to use official sources to get informed. I prefer to use Worldometer to see exactly the statistics. Here is the link if you are curious (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/). Below, you can notice the graphs about active cases and closed cases on March 22, 2020:

Our lives have changed.🤕 We value life more✌💖, the people we have in our lives👨👩👧👦, the experiences we have lived🌎. The small and daily worries are worthless in front of the virus. If I had gone back in time, probably I wouldn't have been so stressed out for the little things. My perception is different today than yesterday.
Do masks really help?😷
Some specialists admit that the surgical mask is a good protection against viruses, some admit it isn’t because has no air filter. From my point of view, I think is better to have any kind of mask than nothing as long as it is worn correctly. Click the link to find out more about masks (https://www.bbc.com/news/health-51205344). Is better to prevent than to have it (the virus).
Will we die? How worried should we be?😬😱😰
Daily, new cases are reported (including mild cases, cases with symptoms, severe and deaths). More likely to become severely ill are the old population, but also those with asthma, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure. In other words, wash your hands as much as possible, clean the surfaces/tools/things that might get infected 🧹🧼🧽🚿(clothes, shoes, phones, laptop, house and so on – just clean everything to be sure👌👍) and avoid touching your face.
How is life under Coronavirus lockdown? ⛔
It is better that people finally understood the importance of isolation. According to BBC, a lot of people stay at home to avoid unnecessary transmission of the disease. It is a difficult time, but let's try to think differently. Do you remember when you said: "I will do that thing when I have time"? Now you have time. Use it wisely! Don’t waste it! Read that book📘📖📚, cook something delicious👨🍳🍕🍔, do sports/aerobics🤸♀️🏋️♂️, watch comedies to relax🎬📺, practice meditation🧘♀️, invest in yourself👩🏫.

What should I do with my travel plans & bookings?🧳🌆🌇
I also booked my trips like many of you did. It was a surprise for all of us and we need to prioritize the health. Don’t worry, the sights won’t move. You will find all of them next year, next 5 years and so on. THE HEALTH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!!💯❗❗
Most airlines offer refund or rebook flights for free. Hotels also are under lockdown and have the same policy. You should check first because it depends on the type of holiday (maybe your travel insurance covers the costs). What COVID-19 has taught me?🧬🧬🧬
Even though there are many jokes on social media sites, we must be aware of the danger. According to Worldometer, the incubation period is between 2-14 days or maybe more (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-incubation-period/). I admit, some jokes are really funny and I laugh so hard.🤣 This proves that people are creative and is essential to distract somehow from bad news👍. Faith, hope and hygiene will save us. Take care!💖✌
In the end, I want to thank to the medical, police and army staff who fight against the virus. They put their lives in danger for us. Also, I want to thank to those who help them.👏👏🙌👏 Some of you may have lost your beloved ones. Sincere condolences! 😥😥We are all one nation now🌎. Together we will succeed!💖👌👍👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👦
Thank you for your time and have a wonderful and inspiring day! Take care!
